Mastercard Foundation Scholarship – University Of British Columbia

The University of British Columbia, Canada is pleased to partner with The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program to give comprehensive literacy to scholars from Sub-Saharan Africa. And this program provides access to education for academically talented, yet economically marginalized youthful people.

More than 110 scholars from Africa will adopt comprehensive literacy to live and learn at the University of British Columbia thanks to a $25 million entitlement from The MasterCard Foundation. And over the coming 10 times, UBC expects to recruit 77 undergraduate and 35 master’s degree scholars through the Program.

Scholarship Named scholars will admit an education fellow to the costs related to attaining a degree, including trip, education, handbooks, casing, food, and living charges. And you’ll also admit fiscal, academic, social, and post-graduation support which will enable you to make guests and capabilities critical for academic success.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria:

To be eligible for consideration for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Masters Degree Program at UBC, the aspirant must:

• Have completed a Bachelor’s degree;

• must not formerly have a graduate or PhD degree;

• Be 35 times old or youngish ( i.e. born in 1985 or later);

• Be a citizen or a exile of a Sub-Saharan African country;

• Bave lived a significant part of their life in aSub-Saharan African country;

• Present economically underprivileged financial circumstances, and be suitable to show lack of fiscal means from family or other sources to pursue graduate education in their home country or away;

• Have achieved academic excellence under delicate circumstances and show leadership rates or eventuality;

• Demonstrate an interest in and commitment to giving back to his/ her home community in ways that enhance the profitable growth and social development of Africa, through engagement in conditioning in their current profession, university or community;

• Be a person who requires a Canadian study permit to study in Canada;

• Commit to returning to Africa in order to apply their training and chops to the betterment of others;

• Be applying for a Master’s degree in one of the following faculties and programs at UBC’s Vancouver campus;

1) Faculty of Forestry

a) Master of Sustainable Forest Management (MSFM).

b) Master of International Forestry (MIF).

c) Master of Geomatics for Environmental Management (MGEM)

2) Faculty of Land and Food Systems:

• a) Master of Food and Resource Economics (MFRE).

• b) Master of Food Science (MFS).

• c) Master of Land and Water Systems (MLWS).

3) Faculty of Science

a) Master of Data Science

Note: The Mastercard Foundation Scholars program only covers charges of the admitted scholars.

The Canadian citizens or Endless Residers aren’t eligible to apply for this award and the finances from the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at UBC can not be applied to pursue programs at other academic institutions.

Note: that these dates may vary and please that if you’re applying for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at UBC, you must submit all your documents ( including your reference letters) by the dates requested and all the aspirants applying to these programs should consider the different deadlines. Late cessions won’t be accepted else you stay for the coming Operation

The Benefits:

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program covers all charges associated with UBC education, casing and food. Their Scholars also accept a paycheck each month to support their lives in Vancouver.

Nominations When scholars are verified for nomination, their high academy or honored non-profit association must use the MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program nomination package.

Please read through all the operation ways outlined before pacing to the eligibility form. Because this will help you understand our entire operation process, answer any questions that may arise, and help you avoid any crimes.

The Scholarship Application Procedure

Step One:  Admissibility Submission

1. Decide your Program (s) of Interest from the list.

2. Consult the link/Chart below relating to the Minimum Academic.

3. Conditions/ International Credentials for Graduate Students, listed by country to determine your academic eligibility for the program and MCF. It’s also given that the number of aspirants exceeds the number of positions available, and a record that satisfies introductory entrance conditions doesn’t guarantee admission to graduate studies

4. Consult the program website to determine if you retain the applicable background experience.

5. Still, complete the eligibility verification form (at the bottom of this runner) to corroborate your eligibility for the education, If you meet the minimal academic conditions and have the applicable background. And

they will accept and corroborate the admissibility Cessions until November 6th,.

Step Two: Some Additional  Tests

Still, make arrangements to take an English Proficiency Test (TOEFL or IELTS) and have the results transferred to UBC, If your Bachelor’s degree wasn’t tutored in English. And please visit this website to confirm whether you meet UBC’s English demand

Step Three- ”’Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Eligibility Package”’

You should round up the ”’Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Applications”’ before you apply to University Of British Columbia. But the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Operations will be due on December 11, 2022. And we ask that all operations be submitted electronically in a single document PDF, via dispatch as this is easy and costs lower, but ”late or deficient packages”’ can not be accepted and University Of British Columbia isn’t responsible for any packages not entered by the deadline.

In order for the Selection Committee to determine your eligibility for this education, you must demonstrate financial need, a commitment to give back and how your education will contribute towards the metamorphosis of your community, your region or your country in Africa, you must:

a) Complete the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program EligibilityForm. And however, ensure that the document is easily comprehensible, If submitting a hand- written Eligibility Form.

b) Submit the personal Statements. But the answer to each question not exceeding the word limit must be compartmented and submitted

• Please tell us your story. What’s of significance to you and reflects who you are? (200-300 words maximum.)

• Describe a recent, meaningful involvement in your community, including what your part is/ has been in the exertion/ ies. (200-300 words maximum.)

• Why are you interested in studying at UBC, and how do you fantasize about your chosen program of study at UBC helping you to reach your long- term career and particular pretensions? What drives you to achieve your pretensions? (200 – 300 words maximum.)

• Continuity is pivotal to the completion of this. Please describe a situation where you had to overcome a significant handicap/ challenge (s) to reach a thing. How did you reply to this challenge, and what did you learn from the situation? (200 – 300 words maximum.)

• What differently should we know about your fiscal condition in order to consider you for this education? (200-300 words maximum.)

c) Submit a CV/ Resume – And this should include any applicable education and work experience.

d) Give two reference letters – Please give two reference letters on sanctioned letterhead that will attest and speak considerably to your community service, volunteering capacities, and leadership potential. And however, please note that these should be transferred to us via dispatch by December 11, 2022, If your arbiters would like to shoot their letters directly to us for sequestration reasons. Any letters transferred after this date will suppose your package as deficient, and hence, won’t be considered for the education.

The same reference letters can be handed for your academic operation given that they meet the conditions. Still, a strong preference will be given to references that can attest to your leadership chops, commitment to community services and why you’re suited for this award. Please note that each faculty will have specific conditions for reference letters separate to the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program – make sure to follow these conditions.

e) Reiterations – Please attach a comprehendible dupe of your (unofficial) transcripts. And however, note that you’ll be needed to also give a restatement, If your reiterations are in a language other than English.

f) Submit the Checklist, Eligibility Form, Particular Statements, CV, two reference letters on sanctioned letterhead, reiterations, and inked protestation. Upon completion of your Eligibility Package, please submit a dupe of your package as one pdf. document through dispatch and note that the protestation must be inked by hand, electronically, or compartmented, else, the package will be considered deficient.

Step Four UBC Faculty Applications

1) Apply Online: Once your Mastercard Foundation Application is complete, you’ll admit an dispatch with instructions to submit an online operation to

b) Your Application Charges- You may be eligible for a fee waiver if your country is listed as one of the world’s 50 least developed countries, according to the United Nations and please visit this website to check if you’re eligible

However, please telegraph us to see if you’re eligible for a figure disclaimer after you have submitted your operation package, If your country isn’t listed over. But you’ll receive instructions and a deadline of when to submit a figure disclaimer request from the MCF Program and the figure disclaimer requests after this date won’t be.

Step Five Reviewing Process

In February (2023), faculties will nominate admitted campaigners for the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship. The  university wide selection commission will review education operations from the three faculties, rank them and elect award donors. Shortlisted campaigners will be communicated at this time and invited to submit a videotape interview.

In April 2023, only the MCF Scholar award donors will be communicated and soon later an advertisement of award donors will be made. Unfortunately, due to the high volume of operations we admit, we aren’t suitable to respond to aspirants who haven’t entered education.
